Proposed community pump track

Bay Pump Track

A proposed community pump track for Bolton-le-Sands, Hest Bank and the Bay.

Bay Pump Track is a proposed community pump track near the shore between Bolton-le-Sands and Hest Bank. The project is being backed by Bolton-le-Sands Parish Council, with local partners, neighbouring councils, residents and funders being invited to help shape the next stage.

Early-stage work only: any future proposal is subject to permissions, funding and agreements.

What is being proposed?

A small wheeled-sport facility for local families

The idea is to explore a community pump track that could be used by bikes, scooters and other suitable wheeled users. Pump tracks use gentle rolling features and turns so riders can build confidence, balance and fitness in a shared outdoor space.

The project is at an early feasibility stage. Design, location, insurance, governance, funding and delivery arrangements all need careful work before any proposal could move forward.

Why a pump track?

Active, local and inclusive outdoor recreation

For different ages

A well-designed pump track can support children, young people, families and developing riders without needing a large formal sports pitch.

For everyday use

The aim is a welcoming place for informal activity, confidence building and time outdoors close to the communities around the Bay.

For the wider Bay

The public identity is Bay Pump Track so support can grow across Bolton-le-Sands, Hest Bank and nearby partners.

Who is involved?

Parish Council-backed, community-shaped

Bolton-le-Sands Parish Council is supporting early work around design, insurance, governance and project setup.

The next stage is expected to involve residents, local partners, neighbouring councils, funders and organisations that can help test whether the project is feasible.
